Professional Areas of Interest – Pediatric, adolescent and adult preventive health, with a special interest in sports medicine care for patients of all ages.
Personal Information –
I have been trained to manage a broad range of chronic (e.g. obesity, high blood pressure, depression) and acute conditions (e.g. colds, UTIs, rashes) in primary care. I am a strong advocate for preventive care (e.g. cancer screenings, vaccinations, regular physicals) for which I rely on evidence-based practices, as patient safety is one of my priorities. I very much enjoy working with the entire family (all ages), and find it rewarding when I get to take care of my patients during the good and not-so-good times. I like empowering patients to be their own health advocates. However, I also believe in teaming up with supportive medical staff and other clinicians to help achieve the best outcomes for my patients.
Personal Info –
I was born in Ecuador (I’m fluent in Spanish) and moved to the US for college. During medical school, I learned to enjoy hiking, camping, kayaking and cross-country skiing, which are perfectly suitable for the Michigan weather. Residency brought us to Kansas City and now we call this place our home. While I still enjoy visiting parks and exploring new trails, I also find much delight in taking on new projects around the house or trying new recipes.
