Professional Areas of Interest – After working with many different disease states, I found my biggest interest in diabetes. I made the transition from clinical nutrition to the clinic side, specifically CPFMC, because I wanted to spend more time with patients/clients. I share the same belief as CPFMC; a patient-centered approach to health and wellness. Each patient presents with unique and different backgrounds and needs, and every educational session is individually tailored to meet this. Diabetes is a very difficult disease to manage, however when working with the right team and support system, it doesn’t always have to be that way. My diet approach is to help people break away from the standard American diet, and embrace more whole, real foods with balanced meals and a little meal planning. Oh, and have a little fun while doing it.
Personal Information – Born and raised here in Kansas City, I attended Park Hill High School and started off my undergraduate degree at Benedictine College in Atchison, where I played soccer for 3 years. I met my husband here, and a year later moved to California, where we lived in San Diego for 10 years.
Recently we had to say goodbye to the perfect weather and palm trees to come back to KC (which I love) and raise a family – we have boy/girl twins that keep us a little busy. In all my spare time, I enjoy running, reading, eating chocolate (dark of course) and sushi, being surrounded by close friends and family, and taking long walks with our dog.
